Coding for Kids - Scratch

Image
Hello!  I was able to create a lesson based on Math and CTF outcomes! The lesson I created works around the number organizing idea. Grade 1 needs to know numbers 0 - 100 by the end of the year. This lesson requires a lot of prior practice, with both Scratch and computers in general, so I would not use this application right off the get go. The lesson I created is a good way summative assessment for near the end of the unit as students need to know each number and what they represent to complete this activity. This could also be an activity students do later on in the year as a review lesson later on in the year, once students are comfortable with computers/laptops and Scratch. Teaching with Tech: Stop Motion!

Image
Hello!  Today Grace and I was able to teach my peers about stop motion and how to use it within the classroom! We taught them that they can use it when students in Grade 1 are learning about the seasons. As a reflection, I think it went well as a test run of the app as well as the planning students need to do. I have learned that smaller groups and each student having a role is important. My peers had fun in the process and the final result as well. I think it went really well and everyone loved it and said they would use it in their practice as well! The links to both the lesson plan as well as the app is down below. Thanks!  Link to the lesson plan Link to the app

(Credit to Wikipedia) Hello! I am excited to announce I made a digital story about the Kainai Indigenous group! I talked about the history of the treaties, the Blackfoot language, and even said a few names in Blackfoot! Super excited to learn and teach you all what I learned too! Hope you enjoy!
